Carlo Martinoli received his medical degree in 1986 from the University of Genoa, Italy, and became a specialist in diagnostic radiology in 1989 at the University of Cagliari, Italy. He has held positions as Staff Radiologist, Assistant Professor of Radiology, and Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Genoa. Currently, he is a Full Professor of Radiology and the Director of the Postgraduate School of Diagnostic Radiology at the same university. He also serves as the Head of the Emergency and Musculoskeletal Radiology Unit at the University-Hospital of Genoa (IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino), Italy. Since 1989, his clinical practice has primarily focused on ultrasound and imaging of the musculoskeletal and peripheral nervous systems. He has devoted more than 25 years to education in the field of musculoskeletal radiology and is the author of a prominent textbook on Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. Throughout his career, Carlo Martinoli has received numerous teaching and professional awards from scientific societies, including RSNA, ARRS, ECR, ESPR, and ESUR-SUR. He has published 322 scientific articles in international, peer-reviewed medical journals (English literature) according to Scopus® statistics (H-index = 68; citations = 15,553, according to Google Scholar® statistics: H-index = 54 according to Scopus® statistics). He has also been included in the list of the top 1.5% of international scientists (Plos Biology®) and has delivered over one thousand invited lectures at international courses and congresses. Carlo Martinoli has served as President of the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology. He was also one of the founders of the International Society of Peripheral Neurophysiological Imaging (ISPNI), a multidisciplinary society aimed at advancing global education and research in the field of peripheral nerve imaging.
