Pediatric Director
Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh, United States
After training at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for my fellowship as a pediatric hematology/oncolgist I became intensely interested in hemostatic/thrombotic complications of pediatric patients. Therefore, I pursued an extra year of training at the Hospital for Sick Children at the University of Toronto, Canada under Dr Blanchette's mentorship. Since that time I have been actively involved in treating patients with hemostatic/thrombotic problems. Following the completion of my training I was a staff physician at the Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center for 3 years working with Dr. Amy Shapiro where I also concluded a Master’s in Clinical Translational Research at Indiana University/Purdue University (IUPUI). Thereafter I transitioned to become the Clinical Director of the Pediatric Hematology Program at Penn State M. Hershey Medical Center for just over 1.5 years. Progressing to a more research-oriented position, I accepted the dual role of becoming Associate Medical Director at the Hemophilia Treatment Center of Western Pennsylvania and the Clinical Research Director of the hematology program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. There my role includes supervising the care of approximately 400 pediatric patients with bleeding disorders and developing the clinical research of a nationally and internationally recognized programs. Given my training history at world class hematology/oncology institutions, clinical experience and the mentorship I became an Associate Professor of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh, the Pediatric Director of the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania. My contributions also extend to the Thrombosis and Vascular Anomalies Program at the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
