Johanna Gebhart is Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine I, Clinical Division of Hematology and Hemostaseology at the Medical University of Vienna, and deputy head of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Research Group.
With clinical training in Internal Medicine and Hemato-Oncology at the same institution, Prof. Gebhart has developed a special focus on thrombosis and hemostasis, making her a leading expert in the field. Dr. Gebhart is a highly experienced Principal Investigator of the Vienna Bleeding Biobank and the Vienna ITP Biobank. Her expertise lies in mild bleeding disorders, primary immune thrombocytopenia, and the antiphospholipid syndrome. She earned her PhD in vascular biology in 2015, with a focus on plasma clot properties and hyperfibrinolysis in patients with mild bleeding disorders. Prof. Gebhart is a highly accomplished clinician with an extensive international research network in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis. Her publications in national and international journals, co-authorship of guidelines and recommendations, and renowned speaking engagements at national and international conferences demonstrate her expertise and authority in the field.
