Dr. Michelle Lavin is a Consultant Haematologist in the National Coagulation Centre, St. James’ Hospital, Dublin and the Clinical Lead for Haemostasis Research in the Irish Centre for Vascular Biology, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Dr. Lavin’s research focuses on the clinical impact of bleeding disorders, in particular for women and girls with bleeding disorders (WGBD), aiming to improve diagnostic and treatment pathways.
Dr. Lavin is the Chair of both the World Federation of Haemophilia Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) and Rare Bleeding Disorder Committee and the European Association of Haemophilia and Allied Disorder (EAHAD) Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders Working Group. She also serves as an Associate Member on the International Obstetrics and Gynaecology Federation's (FIGO) Menstrual Disorders and Related Health Impact Committee. Dr Lavin previously served as a Co-Chair on the ISTH Von Willebrand Factor Scientific Subcommittee and contributed to the international VWD management guidelines, European Principles of Care for WGBD and the recent NHF State of the Science Research Summit.
